Mayon Volcano ATV Adventure | Albay, Philippines

As the legends say that if you arrive in Legazpi, Albay and the Mayon Volcano stays behind the clouds, you have masamang budhi (evil or something). And this happened:

One of the best way to see Mayon Volcano up close and personal is through ATV. Near the Cagsawa ruins, there are shops where you can rent ATVs and there are also different trails to choose from. We chose the Lava Wall trail which lasted for 2-3 hours. We rented ATVs from Majestic Volcano ATV Adventure and the tour includes a guide. The price for the Lava Trail is P1800 (40 USD) for the solo ATV and P3500 (75 USD).

Overall, the trail is really nice for adventure and adrenaline seekers. There are difficult parts especially on the river crossings with the big rocks. It can really be dusty at times also. One thing that I can say about our guide is that he drives really fast and didn’t stop that much for pictures.

After reaching the base camp (sort of), there’s a 5-10 minutes walk to the lava wall. Technically the area is a helipad but the view there is amazing. One side is the Mayon Volcano and the other is the Legazpi City view.

Definitely a must-try activity when in Legazpi City, Albay.
