Another very late review. Hotel Splendid is the official residence of the mining company where I am working at until the Al Qaeda attack last January 15, 2016. The main target is this 4-star hotel at the center of Ouagadougou. Maybe because this is where diplomats, businessmen and other important people stay when in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. 30 people are dead with 18 different Nationalities. See. That’s why. Also, that’s a week after my last stay at the hotel. I was just there on the 7th of January 2016.
The hotel is one of the biggest in Burkina Faso. It has 140+ rooms, a restaurant, a bar, and a swimming pool.

Since my tenure here, I’ve stayed there for 5 times already. What’s nice is that they remembered me after my first stay. Normally, they check your passport or any ID but for my succeeding stays, they didn’t check anymore. Good thing because I normally keep my documents at the deep portion of my bag.

I’m not sure if the rooms are affordable because the company pays for my accommodation and food from the hotel’s restaurant. But I can remember seeing in the board that one night is around 85000 FCFA. Quite steep. But it’s worth it because their rooms are spacious, they have fast internet connection, good room service and every room has its own bath tub. The receptionists speak good english so it’s all good.
A thing that I can comment with their rooms is they smell old. Like a moldy damp smell. But an air freshener can solve this problem. And their hot water is inconsistent. But this won’t spoil your stay really. Also they have a nice cable connection and with English channels. Yey!

I’m still waiting for them to reopen. Maybe I’ll just visit the bar or the restaurant or stay for the night. I don’t know. But this will be my forever home in Ouaga.
