Through the Lens: First of the Roll

This photo was taken with my very first roll of film. Literally the first frame of the roll as you can see with the frame burn. I didn’t know that this is a thing until I read a post from our Facebook Film Group. There’s even a dedicated instagram page (@f1rstoftheroll) for this beautiful thing. After that, I started to appreciate this phenomenon and I see to it that my local lab will include this often neglected frame.

Fujicolor Superia X-tra 400, Canon A1, Uganda

I used a Fujicolor Superia X-tra 400 (24 shots) paired with my Canon A-1. Actually, this was my test film. I bought this camera on eBay AS IS so there’s no assurance that it would work. So I needed to try the camera first before I dive in film photography completely.

There’s nothing special with this photo really. Just a photo of my messy desk in Kampala, Uganda. I didn’t tinker with the camera settings yet so the colors are off. The photo is just wrong but this photo will have a spot in my heart because this started my journey with film photography.
