Books are Forever

Last year, I spent over a month’s salary on books. I discovered this website where you can order online and they’ll deliver your orders for free. The company is based in UK and they deliver worldwide. I have no address here in Burkina Faso so I still use my Philippine address. Currently, i have boxes of unopened parcels of books in our house in Laguna.

My paperbacks which traveled with me all the way from the Philippines to Burkina Faso.

I just brought four books with me. It’s too heavy. I’m planning of giving them away after I finished reading them. To share the joy in reading. Maybe some random Burkinabe kid in Ouagadougou. Or maybe if you want, I can send them to you. Just comment if you want.

I also brought my Kindle. Don’t get me wrong. I still love my paperbacks but there’s no english books available in their bookstores here. So my Kindle is my savior. I can just browse through the vast collection in the Amazon store and with only one click. You can have that book that you always wanted. But in e-ink.

Some of the books on my Kindle.

I’m currently reading a couple of books now. The Geography of Bliss and Honeymoon with my Brother. But I have a long To Read List already. This week, I bought 5 books from the Kindle Store. And will be buying for the days to come.

How about you? Do you prefer the actual physical book or ebook readers? And please if you have suggestions, please comment them here and I’ll try to read them asap. I’m currently interested on travel books, inspirational like finding peace and happiness etc., buddhism, and detective series.

It’s hard to beat the feel and weight of a paperback, but for convenience, my kindle has been a Godsend. I’m currently in Colombia where travelling and carrying books around would have been a real chore.

Kindle is also nice when reading during the night time just before going to sleep. I normally fall asleep while reading so I damaged a good amount of books. Lol. Enjoy your travels! Have fun in Colombia.
